FAQ

HVAC & mechanical estimating: common questions

What do you need from me for an HVAC takeoff?

The mechanical sheets (M-series), the architectural floor plans and reflected ceiling plans, equipment schedules, specs if available, and your bid date.

Do you count duct by weight or by length?

Both. Rectangular duct is listed by size in LF and converted to pounds by gauge so you can price it either way. Fittings are counted separately.

Can you include my material and labor pricing?

Yes. Send your supplier prices, labor rates and markup and we build them into the Excel file. Otherwise we use current market pricing for your area.

Do you do residential HVAC changeouts?

Yes. Single-system changeouts are a single takeoff. Full new-construction homes and multi-system jobs are quoted.

How much does an HVAC takeoff cost?

A single-trade takeoff is $99. Full priced estimates are $249 for residential or remodel and $499 for custom homes or commercial. Monthly plans start at $299 for 4 takeoffs.
